Nothing hits quite like a fresh CGC submission coming back, and this batch is straight fire. From Silver Age first appearances to Bronze Age classics, these are the kind of books that define a collection.

🦇 Batman #181 (1966) – CGC 7.0

The legendary first appearance of Poison Ivy. This book is one of the biggest Silver Age Batman keys and a must-have for any serious DC collector. Even in a mid-grade 7.0, it’s a centerpiece that commands attention.

🕷 Amazing Spider-Man #100 (1971) – CGC 8.5

The 100th issue milestone featuring a classic John Romita Sr. cover packed with Spider-Man’s entire rogues’ gallery. A true Bronze Age gem and an essential Spidey collectible that bridges the Silver and Bronze eras.

🦇 Batman #244 (1972) – CGC 6.5

One of the most iconic Neal Adams Batman covers of all time. Ra’s al Ghul returns in “The Demon Lives Again,” showcasing Adams’ stunning desert duel artwork. Even at 6.5, this book’s eye appeal is top tier.

This submission brought home some serious character-defining keys — from Poison Ivy’s debut to Spidey’s anniversary to Adams’ legendary Batman art. These aren’t just comics; they’re history preserved in plastic.

Now here’s the question: do I sell them directly through PSA’s eBay integration, or should I list them myself through my eBay store and channel?

Here’s the breakdown:

🔹 Selling through PSA on eBay

• Instant credibility with the PSA Vault branding.

• Cards show up faster in searches and may sell quicker.

• Downside: PSA + eBay fees eat into the profits.

🔹 Selling myself (eBay + my channel)

• I keep more of the profit.

• Full control of photos, titles, and listings.

• I can feature the slabs on my stream and socials before they sell.

• Might take a little longer to move them compared to PSA direct.

If you’ve been in the comic grading game long enough, you know the feeling: sometimes a batch comes back from CGC looking rougher than you’d hoped. That was definitely the case with my latest submission.

This round had its ups and downs. Some grades didn’t land where I wanted, and a couple of key issues definitely stung more than others. But collecting (and flipping) comics is a long game, and every batch tells a story.

The Highlights

• Amazing Spider-Man #300 (CGC 9.2) – My copy improved! Anytime ASM #300 goes up in grade, that’s a win. Venom’s first appearance is still one of the most iconic modern keys, and higher-grade newsstands are always in demand.

• Saga of the Swamp Thing #37 (CGC 9.6) – Another upgrade! This book marks the first full appearance of John Constantine, a character who continues to be huge in DC lore. Alan Moore’s run here is legendary, and 9.6 is a sweet spot grade that balances value and affordability for collectors.

The Tough Pills to Swallow

Not every book came back smiling:

• A couple landed in the 7.0–8.0 range, which is always tough to see when you were hoping higher.

• Even though some keys held strong, those mid-grade results remind you how unforgiving grading can be.

Lessons From This Batch

1. Pressing and cleaning matter. Even small defects or overlooked flaws can tank a grade.

2. Set expectations realistically. Keys will always hold value, but not every copy is going to be a 9.8 gem.

3. Celebrate the wins. Those upgrades on ASM #300 and Swamp Thing #37 made the entire submission worth it.

Final Thoughts

This wasn’t the prettiest submission, but it’s part of the grind. Every grade teaches you something, and every slab tells a story. Sometimes it’s about the heartbreaks, sometimes about the hype — and today it’s a bit of both.

The Marvel Spider-Man Magic: The Gathering set has been one of the most divisive drops in recent memory. A lot of people in the MTG community aren’t feeling it, but for me? As a lifelong Spider-Man fan, cracking a Collector Box was an absolute blast.

This set might not be for everyone, but here’s the truth: it wasn’t about chasing meta cards or value for me. It was about adding some incredible Marvel-inspired pieces to my collection and my display shelves.

Some of the highlights from my box:

• 🟣 The Soul Stone (Infinity Stone Legendary Artifact) – Thanos in full glory, perfect for the collection.

• 🕸️ Spectacular Spider-Man (Legendary Creature) – easily one of my favorite pulls, and it looks gorgeous sleeved up.

• 🖤 Venom: Lethal Protector – iconic comic cover vibes, now locked into my permanent display case.

For me, this box wasn’t about profit or play — it was about passion. I’m a Spider-Man nerd first, and seeing these characters turned into MTG cards is just plain fun. These slabs are going straight into my display shelves alongside my comics and collectibles.

At the end of the day, it’s simple: if you’re a Spider-Man fan, this set hits different. And that’s what collecting should be about — fun, nostalgia, and showcasing what you love.
